The Linear Saw the whole Truss industry is talking about......

Razer Ad

The Razer Saw was developed after extensive investigation into existing manufacturing practices in the timber truss and wall frame industries and to be the "Central processing Machine" of the timber component manufacturing system within a surrounding of material handling and assembly equipment. It is essentially a robotic, "computer controlled" single bladed, linear fed saw and has the unique ability to manoeuvre its blade in complete universal angular freedom about the timber and can produce virtually any single or multiple cut component required in the truss and wall frame manufacture.

Not limited to the cutting of components, the Razer's on board "Simple" software system is a total component, inventory, job management and production reporting system. "Simple" can schedule multiple jobs simultaneously whilst the saw is running and can optimise and sort components to minimise waste and produce components in a specified order to aid in post cutting processes in the manufacturing chain. Cutting files generated from a multitude of design software sources and formats are supported and links to ERP and production management systems are available in real time.

Construction

The machine essentially consists of four main components:

  1. Material feeders that transport and control the linear length of the timber through the saw chamber.
  2. Sawing module which provides a height and sideways traverse in two axis of position control to the universal saw head, which facilitates a further two axis of pitch and slew control.
  3. Automation and control system, utilising high-speed Mutli-axis motion control on a PC platform.
  4. Hydraulic power module comprising of self contained, reservoir, filtration, motor and sensing equipment

The machine is constructed from globally sourced components and utilises the latest in high precision motion control products available. AC servo motors, ball screws, linear bearings and low backlash/high precision gearboxes provide the positioning and movement accuracies to the timber feeders and saw module.

Safety

The Razer's safety design considerations are exceptional and have been of paramount importance in the design criterion. The fully enclosed cutting chamber incorporates a clear front door with an electrically operated locking device for maximum visibility and safety. A built-in moving floor conveyor handles the waste and off cuts produced out to the rear of the saw and automatically reverses to allow small components that cannot be transferred out of the feeders, to collect at the front of the saw. The small cutting chamber allows for very effective high flow dust extraction and low noise when operational.

The feedback sensing of blade rotation is a feature of the saw. Firstly allowing for dynamic "on the fly" sawing feed-rate control gives optimum sawing speeds of many different timber densities. Secondly it interlocks with the access door and does not allow the door to be opened when the blade is moving . The saw blade speed control is superior and can run at speed up to 6000 rpm and stop within 2 seconds in an emergency.

The saw can be operated in a left to right or right to left material flow configuration, allowing the machine to be positioned in any existing or new work flow environment very easily.
